I'm finishing up my semester at Butler and getting ready for winter break and my trip! I know the next few weeks are going to fly by. I haven't done many preparations for the trip yet, except think about what I need to pack. It's very overwhelming to think about packing all that I'll need for three months of multi-climate traveling in two duffle bags but I know I can do it. Also, my dad went to get me currency for a lot of the ports that we'll be stopping in and all of my visas are in!
I'm also excited to say that I'm partnering as a volunteer in the Vicarious Voyage Program with Mrs. Langenbahn's Social Studies classes at Cincinnati Country Day. She was my advisor and one of my favorite teachers in 6th grade. I'll be communicating with her classes through email, this blog, and hopefully skyping while in port. I'll also be able to go in after my trip and visit the middle school. The program is designed to help students gain a more global perspective and hopefully a passion for learning about the diverse cultures and geography that I will visit as I travel around Asia and Africa. As a Middle/Secondary Education major, I'm really excited about this opportunity to interact with middle schoolers on a more casual level and get to know the classes.
